Newly redesigned adjustable angled spreading board for mounting winged insects. This spreading board is shaped so that the insect will appear in flight. The bolt can be loosened to allow the two sides to slide and tightened to snuggly hold the insect in place. The top is covered in 6mm of EVA foam or 3mm balsawood (+$4). Base is lined with 6mm EVA for pinning the body into place. Size is suitable for any size Lepidoptera. This redesign has reinforced sides to prevent snapping from overtightening or mishaps during shipping. The board will also be able to stack by slipping onto our modular board holders (coming soon). The adjustable top is also slightly longer to allow it to more freely move when adjusting, but please hold the moving platform in place when tightening and loosening to prevent the platform from slipping and damaging your specimens. Add a butterfly spreading kit to your purchase for $25. Kit includes stainless steel offset spade-tipped forceps, 8 pieces of paper for pinning down the wings, 100 size 2 pins in a resealable storage tube, a syringe with a regular and small sized interchangeable needle, and 3 practice butterflies. Practice butterfly species will vary but will be craft grade. No refunds for broken antennae or damaged wings as that is typical for craft grade and these are only intended for butterfly pinning practice.

No two are alike! Some designs are modeled after a Rosy Maple moth and are 1"x0.75" while others are modeled after Tiger Moths and are 1"x1".

The caterpillars will ship when available in mid-late April 2026. Painted Lady caterpillar lifecycle kit. Watch your caterpillars grow into colorful butterflies. This lifecycle kit contains at least five caterpillars in a cup with food and a filter for them to attach to. This design was created by Blinque's own in-house artist, V Lichtefeld. Lunas are one of our favorite species to raise in our butterfly farm so of course we had to have some art work created for them, and what's better than a glow-in-the-dark luna moth?! This is our first enamel pin measuring at 2"x2". It glows in yellow and green and is UV reactive as well. The back has two pins for better hold, rubber pin backs, and raised "Blinque's Butterfly Garden" embossed across the back of the pin so you won't forget where you got the pin from when everyone asks where they can get one for themselves! This is a soft enamel pin but a protective resin coating has been added by hand. This coating will still allow the glowing effect while preventing paint chipping or scratching.

They're one of our favorites for sure! They will need to be transferred to a larger container with food after hatching. We do not recommend putting leaves in with the unhatched eggs. This could kill the eggs from the gas the plant material gives off. Cecropias are the largest moths in U.S. and are one of the most colorful silkmoth caterpillars. They are very easy to raise.
