Not really. Cows don’t just produce milk, they have to be pregnant - just like humans. In the dairy industry, they’re forcibly impregnated over and over, and their calves are taken away so humans can drink their milk. Males are usually killed, while females endure the same cycle until they’re no longer useful. Though cows can naturally live 20+ years, most are slaughtered by 5 or 6.

Egg-laying hens? They’ve been bred to lay 300+ eggs a year instead of the natural 10-15, which drains their bodies. Once they slow down, they’re killed - along with male chicks, who are ground up or gassed at birth. Hens could live 8+ years, but most don’t make it past 18 months.

No byproducts - just industries built on suffering. But with so many plant-based options, choosing kindness has never been easier. 🌱✨

What about all the animals killed in crop farming? Doesn’t that make plant-based diets just as harmful?

It’s true that modern agriculture can harm small animals like rodents and insects, but here’s the key difference - the vast majority of crops aren’t grown for humans, they’re grown to feed livestock. In fact, over 80% of global soy production is used for animal feed, not tofu or soy milk.

So, if your concern is minimising harm, eating plants directly dramatically reduces the number of animals affected by crop farming. Instead of growing enormous amounts of food to sustain billions of farmed animals (who are then killed for meat), we could feed far more people with fewer resources, and less suffering by shifting to a plant-based food system.

In short, fewer crops, fewer deaths, and a more sustainable way of eating. 🌱

Of course, animal products can taste good - there’s no denying that.

But just because something brings us pleasure doesn’t mean it’s right. History is full of “normal” practices people once enjoyed that we now see as harmful.

It’s the same with other injustices. Just because we can’t fix everything doesn’t mean we should do nothing. Owning a phone doesn’t mean we shouldn’t fight for ethical supply chains. Driving a petrol car doesn’t mean we shouldn’t push for greener alternatives.

The goal isn’t perfection - it’s progress. And if we have the ability to make kinder, more ethical choices, why wouldn’t we? 🌱

WHY JUST VEGANISM? 🤷‍♂️

Unlike animals, plants lack a central nervous system, brain, or pain receptors, meaning they don’t experience pain the way sentient beings do. While they respond to stimuli, there’s no evidence that they suffer.

But even if we did assume plants could feel something, eating them directly is far more efficient than feeding them to animals and then eating the animals. In fact, over 80% of the world’s crops are grown just to feed livestock, wasting massive amounts of land, water, and resources in the process.

Fewer plants, less harm, and a more sustainable food system, sounds like a win-win to me! 🌱
